About Samantha

Hey there! My name is Samantha and I am a married first time mama. I am an avid recycler, lover of trees and hopeless gAddict. I am a huge fan of tattoos and believe they show character; I have four of my own and will be getting lots more! I have dreams of living in an off the grid home and to be fully self-sustaining. I also love my doggies and my toad. Anxiously awaiting the time I can expand my family!

I married the love of my life, Travis, on September 17th, 2010. The man is my other half; where I lack, he completes. I met him through my brother, who is Travis’ best friend. Real girl-next-door kind of stuff. He taught me that it is okay to open up your heart and love someone with all you have got, in return I loved him with everything I have. We may be young, but we are in love and when you are sure, you are sure!!

We didn’t wait long before building a family, we got pregnant on our honeymoon! Though I was excited to be having a little one of my own, I loathed pregnancy. I joined a group of other mamas due in the same month as me and my eyes were opened to all the choices I had when it came to birthing and parenting! We began planning for a natural birth, toured the only birthing center in the area which was unfortunately not covered by my insurance. My OB was very supportive of my natural birth plan, so I just looked forward to a natural hospital birth. I had a tough pregnancy, not near as bad as it could be, but a sudden development of pre-eclampsia resulted in my OB sending me for an emergency induction. It was rather traumatic for me, especially since I am a wuss about needles and blood! The on call OB, who I had never met, broke my water since the pitocin wasn’t getting things going. The high dose of pitocin they had me on lead to contractions I could not handle and I requested an epidural. Three hours later I began pushing for a whole eleven minutes! My sweet baby boy Roghan Abel was born at 1:55pm on June 7th of 2011.Though I lost control of choosing my birth, I have full control of how I parent! I have been cloth diapering and co-sleeping since in the hospital, exclusively breastfeeding since I left the hospital and baby wearing when I am out and about. I treat my child with love and my whole world revolves around him. I look forward to raising him as green as I can!
