Cloth Comparisons: One Size vs. Newborn

A lot of people wonder if one size really means ONE size. Will they fit your skinny newborn? Will they get tight enough to prevent leaks? Most of the time, one size fits all really means “one size fits most.” That diaper might claim it fits 7-45lb, but chances are it’s only going to fit around 10-12lb up to about 35-40. So unless you want to use disposables for the first few weeks, it’s a good idea to get some newborn size diapers. You could go with prefolds, as they are a really economical choice. There are also a lot of brands that make specific newborn sized diapers. Rumparooz, Fuzzi Bunz (XS), Charlie Banana (XS), BumGenius (XS), and the Little Bee Co all make tiny fluff for your newbie.

I figured that some of you might be visual learners, so I took a few photos of common one-size brands next to a lil’ joey style newborn diaper. (It’s a no-name directly from China, but exactly the same as a lil’ joey.)

I wish I had some other NB fluff to show you, but I only have this style. :) When I get others, I’ll do more comparisons.
