Features 4 pins out of 5
The Booty Buns diaper has a plethora of features that really make it shine as a diaper. It has four levels of adjustment so it can be sized from newborn to 45lbs. Most “one-size” diapers only have 3 levels of adjustment, so the extra level gives it some extra room to grow. It came with two inserts, a liner and a cloth wipe.

However, while it says it can expand to a 45 pound baby, I already have it set to the fourth row of snaps and my baby is 20lbs. Of course, my baby is very long and skinny rather that short and round. (He wears 12-18 month clothing and sometimes 2T depending on the size.) But, I can say, that despite the longness of my baby, it doesn’t fall off his skinny waist because the snaps come together nicely.

And, because I have to pull it in so far, the hip snaps are lovely. The hip snaps keep the inner edges from slipping down and leading to pesky leaks. Also, it keeps the diaper looking rather cute.

Another great advantage of this diaper was the fact that the boy couldn’t get out of it and he is a great escape artist. I think it was the hip snaps that thwarted him. I can’t tell you how much I love that feature on this diaper.

Usability 3 pins out of 5
Booty Buns diapers are no more difficult that most pocket diapers to use. I have to be honest though- I don’t usually use pocket diapers. I use Indian Prefolds with a Bummis cover- which are way easier to use. I don’t fit the diaper around the boy using a snappy (though I have before and found that its not worth the trouble. I just fold the diaper into thirds and set it right in there. Super simple.

The first time I used it, it leaked. The second time went better. No leaks or anything. The third time was good too, so I considered the first leak some fault of my own.

Now, I am going to be a naughty user here and say I tried using the diaper outside of the recommended use. I used it as a cover with one of my prefolds. I set the prefold right inside it and snapped it on just like I do my other diapers. It worked like a champ. It wasn’t even much bulkier than using it as a pocket. This way I also got 2 uses out of the diaper as a cover by switching out the prefold.

The real test though is the husband using it. Since he is home with the boy all day, he is the one who does a majority of the diaper changes. He had a little trouble wrapping his mind around the pocket diaper concept. He said he was against the stuffing aspect of the diaper. Since I fold all the prefoplds before I put them into the changing table, using our other covers is easier for him than inserting the soaker into the pocket diaper.

Cleaning 5 pins out of 5
The diapers were just as easy to clean as any other diaper. I have never found washing the cloth diapers to be burdensome though. What is nice is that the insert can be washed inside the diaper and will sort of flop out. The insert was good for making the messes easy to clean.

Also, it didn’t stain easily (or at all honestly) and washed out to look just as nice and black as it was when I first recieved it.

Very nice.

Price 2.5 pins out of 5
I’m not going to lie here, I find the diapers to be pricey. Yes, I know they are cloth and thus reusable, but at $25.50 a pop they are one of the most expensive diapers out there. Now, I do have to consider, that for every diaper I purchase, one diaper goes to a needy family. So, really, I would be purchasing two diapers. With the two inserts, liner and cloth wipe that comes with them, this is not that bad of a deal.

However, I was mildly bothered that the donations were so vague. The only concrete charity that was listed was Operation Showers of Appreciation. There was mention of other families getting diapers- babies with debilitating disabilities and diseases, but no link to what charity this was through or how it was done. I did some research on Operation Showers of Appreciation and could not find Booty Buns on there as a supporter. I found that concerning, but perhaps they just didn’t have a link back.

Don’t get me wrong, it is a good cause and I support giving cloth diapers to needy families, but I would like to see what charities they are going to and see some proof that they are actually going there. I would also like to see the ability to choose what charity your diapers go to.

I should also mention that I am incredibly frugal in my purchases. The true test is my husband- he is the shopper in the family. And bargain hunter. But, he too found the diaper to be a bit pricey.

Overall 3 pins out of 5
I will bottom line this for you.

This is a really nice pocket diaper if you can afford it. While I am not generally fond of pocket diaper, this diaper works well as a cover for the lazy mom (like myself). I may not buy any more of these diapers for a time, but if I had the money, I would probably purchase a set.
